Then in the evening he would sit crosslegged in the living-room working on his newly acquired fruit. When he had finished treating it, he poured it in a little sake, inserted a cock stopped which he had fashioned himself wrapped it in a towel then he, put this in a tin especially kept for the purpose and finally placed the whole thing in the charcoal foot warmer.

Q.2. Pick out instances from the story to show that Seibei was passionate towards gourd collection.
Ans. Some instances from the story show that Seibei was passionate towards gourd collection are as follow : Seibei was the student of a primary school. After class, Instead of playing with the other children, he usually wandered about the town looking for gourds. Then in the evening he would sit cross-legged in the corner of the living room working on his newly acquired fruit. When he had finished treating it, he poured it in a little sake, put this in a tin especially kept for the purpose and finally placed the the whole thing in the charcoal footwarmer. Then he would go to bed.
As soon as he woke the next morning, he would open the tin and examine the gourd. The skin would be thoroughly damp from the overnight treatment Seibei would gaze adoringly at his treasure before tying a string round the middle and hanging it in the sun to dry. Then he set out for school.

Q.3. Explain the views of Seibei's  father about him and his hobby.
Ans. Seibei's father wanted to see his son become a learned person. He always wanted to see him studied well. His father didn't like his son's work whatever Seibei was doing. Seibei's father didn't want to listen any complain of his son, His desires were to give up unwanted work and unwanted things by his son. For this view he always guided his son and at last forcely he made him to give up his hobbies for collecting gourd.

Q.4. Why did Seibei's teacher become angry with him ? Was his anger Justified ?
Ans. Seibei's teacher became angry with him because during the class period Seibei was never separated from his new gourd. He even took it along to school and used to polish it under his desk in class time. When the teacher found Seibei silently polishing his gourd, his voice trembled with fury. The teacher's anger was justified because the class was going on and Seibei was not taking interest in his subject but he was doing another work during the class time. So his teacher became angry with him. i agree the teacher's view.

Q.5. Seibei's teacher held his parents responsible for Seibei's mistake. Do you agree with the teacher ? Explain.
Ans. Seibei's teacher held his parents responsible for seibei's mistake. No, I am not agree with the teacher because his father worked in a carpenter's shop. His mother looked after her home. Seibei always used to wander in the streets of the town looking for gourds. parents did not find any fault in his son. they always desired for son's bright future but it depends upon the understanding of the son who would have taken keen interest in his studies and thus to fulfil their desire. Seibei's parents were not happy with Seibei's work. They always guided him but he was devoted towards collecting gourds. So it was not the fault of his parents. They were performing their responsibility whatever they had.

Q.6. Describe in your own words the attitude and reaction the teacher to Seibei's passion.
Ans. The attitude of the teacher to Seibei's passion for collecting ground was most rude and anguish. He was highly shocked to see Seibei spoiling his future prospects by his wrong hobby. He also held his parents responsible for his such acts. It was unbearable for him to sea Seibei polishing his gourd under his desk in the class and was not taking interest in his study. The teacher went to Seibei's house, Seibei's father had gone to his duty. So the teacher directed his attack on Seibei's mother. He further added that it had been the responsibility of the parents to see that such things do not hsppen. the agrieved teacher departed from there immediately after expressing his annoyance. Teacher's attitude and reaction was quite justified. He felt his responsibility relating to the future prospects of his students. It was but natural.

Q.7. Why and how did Seibei-change his hobby ? Describe in your own words.
Ans. Seibei had the hobby of moving about the town in search of gourd in the market, after his class was over, insead of playing with other children. He was very particular in keeping nicely all those gourds purchased from the market. Heeven used to take gourd to his school, out of his deep attachment for it. One day in the period of "Moral teaching" subjects his teacher indicated it and became furious. He lost his temper and shouted in anger at Seibei, calling him an idiot. The teacher came to his house even and accused in the house at that time. after the teacher departed Seibei's mother chided him. His father also after returning from his duty knew it and became fire. He scolded his son and smashed all gourds hanging on the wall with his hammer. He also warned him of the worst consequences if he would not leave his womanish hobby of collecting gourds it brought a great change in him. By the time Seibei had left his hobby of collecting gourds for ever. He had engaged himself in picture, Since then. He no longer felt any bitterness either towards his teacher or his father, Seibei started taking keen interest in his studies. He availed his pastime to engage himself in picture, as his new hobby.

Q.8. Do you have similar experiences ? Describe in your own words.
Ans. Such types of instances are not difficult to find out. We can easily find such types of children indulged in unhealthy hobby. In my locality also there is such a boy, Ramesh who was not taking proper care over his studies. He was spending most of his time either to go to cinema hall or to sit before his T.V. sets. several time his school teacher saw him with few of his friends near Cinema Hall. One day he caught Ramesh personally in one cinema. Losing his temper he scolded Ramesh. He also visited his house and accused his parents for such wrong habit of the boy, Ramesh. It brought a great change in the boy and he stopped visiting cinema. Now Ramesh has been taking all care in his studies.
